Hello! I’m Shelia McCracken, and I bring nearly 27 years of experience in real estate sales and the vacation rental industry to the table. My journey began with my first real estate license, and since then, I've had the privilege of serving as a Broker and Senior Sales Manager in various destinations. I’ve worked on exciting projects in resort areas, continually expanding my knowledge and refining my skills.
Growing up at the base of Snowshoe, WV, I fell in love with the mountain resort lifestyle. After earning my degree from West Virginia University, I returned to Snowshoe, reigniting my passion for real estate. In 2009, I married my best friend, John, and together we relocated to the beautiful Deep Creek Lake area when he accepted a position at Wisp Resort. As he climbed the ranks to become Director of Mountain Operations, I dove back into real estate and vacation rentals.
At Long & Foster, I directed property management services and vacation rentals, and in 2016, I transitioned to General Manager at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations, where I oversaw more than 550 vacation rentals. This hands-on experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of both the local market and the needs of homeowners and investors.
Outside of real estate, my husband John and I enjoy life with our two Vizslas, Annie and Merlin, and our kitty, Salem. We cherish all that Garrett County has to offer, whether it’s skiing, boating, hiking, or exploring the local hotspots.
I am deeply committed to our community and have served on boards such as HART for Animals, Dancing Classrooms of the Alleghenies, and the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival. I’ve also contributed to the education committee for the Vacation Rental Managers Association and the Vacation Rental Housekeeping Professionals Organizations, along with being an active member of the National Association of Realtors, the Maryland Association of Realtors, and the Garrett County Board of Realtors.
