Autumn Glory Festival Guide

The Autumn Glory Festival is October 9-13, 2024. This five-day event celebrates the beauty of fall in Garrett County. Oakland, Maryland frequently makes top ten lists for small towns with exceptional foliage. The Autumn Glory Festival gained international attention in 2007, when MSN.com listed it tops among fall festivals in the world. Packed with fun events for all ages, it is not to be missed.

As you enjoy the events listed below, take some time to leaf peep. The fall foliage driving tours offer two routes through stunning Garrett County scenery.

Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade

The Autumn Glory parade is Saturday at 1 pm in downtown Oakland. It is considered the main event of the entire festival. More than 100 participants include bands, marching units, clowns, antique vehicles, and floats by local clubs and organizations.

Glorious Harvest Farmers Market & Craft Show
Wednesday 10 am-1 pm, Thursday-Saturday, 9 am-5 pm
Head to the Mountain Fresh Pavilion in downtown Oakland for homemade baked goods, pumpkins, fall decor, produce, eggs, meats and more.

Autumn Glory Kick-Off Reception
Wednesday, 6 pm
Presented by the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce this prestigious fundraising event is held at Wisp Resort. It introduces presents the Autumn Glory King and Queen, recognizes sponsors, and provides a festive kick-off.

Turkey Trail Local Dinners
Throughout the festival, you will find local restaurants and organizations serving delicious turkey dinners. This is a nod to the original turkey festival that later became Autumn Glory.

RM Rentals will have lots of activities for kids Thursday-Sunday.

Fireman’s Parade
Thursday, 7 pm
Held in downtown Oakland, this parade is a local favorite. It features area fire and rescue vehicles along with marching bands, dance groups, scout troops, and more.

Oompah 2024
Thursday, 4 pm-10 pm
Held at the Front Page Stage on Green Street, there will be a beer garden with live music and a cornhole tournament. 

Big Bucks Bingo
Friday, 6 pm
The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department hosts their 1st Annual OVFD Autumn Glory Big Bucks Bingo at the fire hall. Doors open at 5 pm and games start at 6 pm. $25 in advance or $30 at door.

Autumn Glory Craft & Vendor Sale
Friday and Saturday, 9 am-4 pm
The Accident Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary hosts the annual craft & vendor sale that includes refinished furniture, wreaths, crocheted items, jewelry, local maple syrup, wood crafts, etc. Free admission.

High Mountain Sports Annual Autumn Glory Ski & Snowboard Swap
Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 9 am-6 pm
This is a perfect time to get equipment for your family at a bargain price! Free Admission.

Bear Creek Traders Annual Autumn Glory Tent Sale
Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 9 am-6 pm
Bear Creek Traders offers their annual tent sale with savings up to 70%. You’ll find men’s & women’s clothing, footwear, winter accessories, home décor and more.

15th Annual Autumn Glory Spectacular
Friday and Saturday. 9:30 am-6 pm and Sunday, 10 am-3 pm, 2858
Visit Woodlake Tree Farm for a selection of antiques, vintage, restyled and other found items. Free admission.

Friday, 10 am-6 pm and Saturday, 9 am-6 pm
Come shop with local crafters and vendors at the Deep Creek Fire Hall. Food provided by the Ladies Auxiliary.

49th Antique & Makers Market
Friday and Saturday, 9 am-5 pm
Held at the Oakland Community Center, shop for antiques, vintage, and artisan handcrafted items. All proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations.

Cove Run Corn Maze

Go to Cove Run Farms to navigate this 10-acre corn maze. Admission: $8 for ages 11 & up, $4 for ages 3 – 10 and free for ages 2 & under.

The Official Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle & Mandolin Championships
Friday, 5 pm doors open, 6 pm Program Start
Held at Southern Garrett High School, enjoy traditional Appalachian Mountain music showcased. Musicians of all ages compete for cash prizes and the state title. Admission: $20 at door, $18 in advance.

Autumn Glory 5K Run/2 Mile Walk
Saturday, 8:30 am
Hosted by the Oakland Mountain Lake Park Lions Club, participants can enjoy the beautiful scenery at Broadford Park.

Autumn Glory Craft & Gift Sale Presented by the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce
Saturday, 10 am-5 pm, Sunday, 10 am-4 pm
The Ag Heritage Hall at the Garrett County Fairgrounds hosts a variety of contemporary crafts and gifts including woodworking, candles, painted décor, jewelry, and specialty foods. Free Admission.

47th Annual Autumn Glory Tournament of Bands
Saturday, 6 pm
Watch marching bands from the tai-state area compete at Southern Garrett High School Athletic Field. $10 for adults, $5 for children, children under 4 are free.

Autumn Glory Festival Car Show Mountain Top Cruisers
Sunday, 9 am-3 pm
Held in downtown Oakland, this is the biggest car show in Garrett County. Free for spectators.
