Stars and Stripes in the Park
July 3
Enjoy an afternoon of free patriotic events, great food, and music in Downtown Oakland.
Broadford Lake Fireworks
July 3 (Rain date July 5)
Music by the Garrett County Community Concert Band begins at 7:30PM. Around 9:30PM, fireworks light up the night sky above the lake. Remember to bring a picnic basket and savor the patriotic atmosphere.
Accident Independence Day Parade
On the 4th of July at 11AM, the parade begins. Afterward, the Accident Volunteer Fire Department has food, music, and activities for the kids.
Free Fishing Day
July 4
Enjoy a day of fishing without the need for a license, stamp, or registration.
Fourth of July Weiner Wars
Benefitting Garrett Mentors, Mountain State Brewing Co. is hosting their third annual hot dog eating contest starting at 2PM.
Fire on the Mountain Deep Creek Lake Fireworks
July 4 (Rain date July 5)
Starting around 9:30PM, these magnificent fireworks are launched from the top of Bear Claw Snow Tubing Park at Wisp Resort, with prime viewing spots around McHenry Cove.
4th of July Stage Wisp
July 4
An artisan market and free Stage Wisp concert precedes the fireworks from 5 to 10PM on the lawn at Wisp Resort. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs! Food and drinks are available for purchase.
Stage Wisp Free Summer Concert Series

Every Wednesday throughout the summer, enjoy outdoor music at Wisp Resort starting at 6:30PM.
Victorian Chatauqua
July 11 and 12
The town of Mountain Lake Park celebrates its history with a free, family-friendly Victorian Chautauqua. Historical performances, lectures, live music, vendors and artisans, food, trolley bus tours, and activities relive the vibrant past of this former resort community along the B&O Railroad.
Art in the Park
July 11 10AM-5PM and July 12 10AM-4PM
This favorite annual event features 50+ vendors with original artwork and fine crafts. Enjoy food vendors, kid’s interpretive events, tie dye, live animals, and a kid’s art project sponsored by the Garrett Arts Council.
Garrett 250 Birthday Bash: Celebrating America Together
July 18 Noon-10PM at the Garrett County Fairgrounds
Garrett 250 Birthday Bash: Celebrating America Together is a countywide celebration on July 18, 2026 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds that brings all Garrett County towns together to share their unique chapters of America’s 250-year story through exhibits, music, family activities, a patriotic concert, veteran honors, and a finale drone show. It honors not just history from the Revolutionary time period but both Garrett County and American history by celebrating the diverse people, places, and stories that have shaped the past 250 years.

Yoga in the Lavender Fields
Every Thursday, 9-10AM

Held at the pavilion off 2nd Street in Downtown Oakland by the town parking lot, local vendors offer farm fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, and more.
Birds of Prey Program Near Deep Creek Lake
Mondays throughout the summer, 10AM-Noon
Join All Earth Eco Tours at the Friendsville Community Park to see hawks, owls, and falcons in this two-hour, fun learning program. Reservations are required.
