The Garrett County Agriculture Fair is popular with locals and visitors alike offering something for all ages. Exciting rides, delicious food, fun events and adorable animals are just a few of the ways the fair will keep you entertained.Â
Highlighting Garrett County’s agricultural community, it truly showcases the best of our area. Many local children are 4-H members and enter animals that they raise. It is a family tradition that goes back decades.
Favorite Garrett County Fair Activities
There are lots of ways to have fun at the fair! Here are just a few of our favorites:
Enjoy amazing “fair food”! Some people go to the fair just to eat! Local organizations and school groups sell food at their booths as a fundraiser. You can support Northern and Southern High School, the Knights of Columbus, Garrett County Farm Bureau, area Lions Clubs, the Junior Women’s Civic Club, and many others. The Oakland Rotary Club is famous for their hand-cut french fries, and barbecue chicken dinners from the Oakland/Mountain Lake Park Lions Club are always a favorite. The carnival offers sweet treats like funnel cake, fried Oreos, and candy apples.
Experience fun and games at the carnival! From mild to wild, there are rides for almost everyone to enjoy. Little kids and big kids will love the view of Deep Creek Lake from the ferris wheel. Of course, there are lots of games where you can try your luck to win a prize.
Visit the barns. There are several barns that house a variety of exhibits that are judged. Shown by local children who are 4H and FFA members, the animal barns give you a glimpse into life on the farm. You can see bunnies, pigs, cows, sheep, and horses. Other buildings feature locally grown produce, handmade crafts, quilts, photography, and more.
Check out special events. Each night, there are track events like the tractor pull, truck pull, demolition derby, and mud bog. Plus, musical acts perform in the Ag Hall.
