New Agent Spotlight: James Matthews

We are excited to announce that James Matthews has joined the Taylor-Made Deep Creek Sales team as a licensed real estate agent in both Maryland and West Virginia!

James brings a unique blend of leadership, dedication, and a lifelong passion for outdoor living. Originally from the scenic Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, James grew up canoeing, camping, and spending time on the lake. These experiences laid the foundation for his deep appreciation of nature and community. That connection to the outdoors is what ultimately drew him and his family to Garrett County, where he now enjoys all that Deep Creek Lake has to offer.

Following a distinguished 35-year career with the Department of the Army, James retired as a Senior Program Manager and Operations Chief at the Pentagon. His work demanded expert-level strategic planning, business operations, and resilience program development to support military personnel and their families. These years of experience managing complex logistics and coordinating diverse teams directly translate into his work as a real estate professional. James is highly skilled in problem-solving under pressure, making him an asset to clients navigating the buying or selling process.

In 2022, James and his wife, Leah, made Garrett County their permanent home. The area’s small-town charm, stunning natural scenery, and active lifestyle were the perfect fit. The couple enjoys evening walks with their dogs, summer days spent relaxing on the boat with friends and family, and the annual tradition of attending the Garrett County Fair. Autumn is their favorite time of year, filled with tailgating at WVU football games, gathering around the fire pit, and exploring local festivals and hiking trails.

James is an avid sports fan who loves following hockey and football, and he also enjoys golfing and biking. He brings the same energy and enthusiasm to his real estate work, where his approachable personality, superior follow-up, and expert negotiating skills shine through.

“I want to be a real estate agent in Garrett County because I am enthusiastic about helping people find a truly special home in a fantastic lake-oriented area,” James shared. “I enjoy the sense of community and outdoor lifestyle here and want to assist others in discovering all that Garrett County has to offer.”

Whether you’re looking for a cozy mountain retreat, a lakeside home, or the perfect place to put down roots, James is ready to guide you with professionalism, local knowledge, and genuine care. His client-focused approach and passion for the area make him a valuable member of the Taylor-Made Deep Creek Sales team.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to James Matthews!
