Oakland, Maryland West-Central Garrett County

The town of Oakland, Maryland is located in the west-central part of Garrett County and serves as the county seat. With a designated Main Street, Arts and Entertainment District, and deep historical roots, there is no shortage of activities for locals and visitors alike.

Folks that live within the town limits are primarily permanent residents. However, the Oakland mailing address stretches to Deep Creek Lake stopping at the 219 bridge. Closer to the lake, there is a mix of primary and second homes along with vacation rentals and commercial activity.

It offers a lake, picnic and beach areas, a boat launch, fishing, pavilion rentals, a playground, and hiking/biking trails. Other parks that add to Oakland’s quality of life include: Rotary Park, Veteran’s Park, Oakland Dog Park, and Glades Town Park.
